FAQ’s

  • When we talk about IPC certification, we are talking about it being a cornerstone of quality and consistency within the electronics manufacturing sector. IPC, or the Institute for Printed Circuits as it used to be called, has established a set of standards that ensure the quality and reliability of electronic components and assemblies. These standards are critical for maintaining high performance and safety, especially in industries where the stakes are incredibly high, like aerospace and defense.

  • IPC currently offer three levels of certification for students. The level you choose for you, or your team, depends on what individuals in your team need for IPC standards and how they are applied within manufacturing. The levels are as follows:

Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)Suitable for line operators, engineers, and quality engineers this level provides understanding of criteria across all acceptance classes.

Certified Standards Expert (CSE): Suitable for subject matter professional with high-level knowledge of specific IPC standards – these people act as an expert within the organization, interpreting standards and resolving conflicts.

Certified IPC Trainer (CIT): Trainers at this level are authorized to deliver and administer CIS or CID / CID+ training and certification exams.

  • There are more details about each course available which should help you identify what is the best fit for you, however, what you may think you need and what you actually need can be two different things – if you need more information don’t hesitate to get in touch!

  • While not strictly required, some electronics experience is helpful. You should understand basic electronic theory, be able to identify components and have good soldering skills for practical courses.

If you’re new to soldering, we recommend taking our basic soldering course first.

  • All IPC Certifications (CIS, CSE, and CIT levels) are valid for two years. You can recertify within 3 months before expiry but if your certificate expires, you’ll need to take the full course again.

  • Most courses take 3-4 days, some may be shorter. Contact Marq-One for a precise schedule based on your needs.

  • Marq-One are centrally located in the UK with easy access to major road and rail networks and two international airports close by.

    • Address: MARQ-ONE Ltd, Eliot Park Innovation Centre, Barling Way, Nuneaton CV10 7RH
  • IPC training courses can be done remotely however courses with practical assessments must be done in person. While they offer remote training, Marq-One feel the value from in-person teaching is exponentially more valuable than the convenience of an online course. You can choose to train either in their fully equipped facility or at your location.

  • Group IPC electronics training can be delivered on-site at your facility ensuring your delegates are familiar with the operating environment and the equipment used for evaluation.
