IPC-A-610 Certification

The IPC A-610 standard will help your team accurately identify what does and doesn’t constitute acceptable standards, so you can reduce scrap costs, rework time and increase product reliability and quality.

What is IPC A-610?

The IPC A-610 standard is the most commonly used inspection standard in the electronics industry. It is internationally recognised as the standard for end-product acceptance criteria for consumer and high-reliability printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).

Knowing the criteria for acceptable components and electronics assemblies, how to avoid component damage and how to create quality and reliable products is crucial for all businesses that need 100% performance in extreme conditions.

Marq-One’s training course covers the acceptance criteria for electronic assemblies across multiple product classes (Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3). Delegates should have knowledge of industry language and a basic understanding of soldering practice, PCBs, and component recognition, however this is a theory only course and is crucial for anyone involved with inspection of PCB assemblies.

The A-610 standard is aimed at those who are responsible for quality and reliability in electronics assembly. Specifically, those who need a clear understanding of what is and isn’t acceptable in a soldered joint or electronic assembly: quality inspectors, manufacturing engineers, production managers, assembly operators, managers etc.

If you’re looking for more basic solder or handling training for your team, please consider Marq-One’s electronics training courses.

Marq-One’s IPC A-610 course covers all three product classes. In particular, it looks at inspection criteria for all aspects of PCB assembly, so your team can identify and agree on acceptable standards.

During the course Marq-One will review everything from criteria for component damage, cleaning and coating ,through to requirements for mechanical assemblies including:

  • Soldering & High Voltage
  • Component Damage in PCB’s & Assemblies
  • Terminal Connections
  • Plated Through Hole (PTH)
  • Surface Mount (SMT)
  • Jumper Wires
  • Hardware

Training can be delivered on-site at your business or at Marq-One’s dedicated training centre so you can upskill your team in the most cost-effective way for your business.

If you choose to have group training delivered on-site at your business you will need to provide a suitable dedicated learning environment, relevant equipment and presentation tech.

If you choose to book a course at Marq-Ones IPC Certification facility in the Midlands, all the highest quality equipment is provided.

For either option Certificates will be provided on successful completion of the course. The certification course usually takes 3 days and is valid for 2 years. You can recertify within 3 months before expiry but if your certificate expires, you’ll need to take the full course again.
